A well laid-out site indeed. You could eat your dinner off this table. Oh! we did. Goodness me, a tidy tent! Danger, pyros at work. Thinks: this is like trying to paint the Forth Road Bridge the way this lot burn wood.

The A team Task talk. How to lay out an ideal camp site using a model made of natural materials. This site looks like it's been Hoovered.

Here is Benn's report on the weekend's events:

On Saturday the 12th of June 2004 a patrol of 6 scouts from the Oldmeldrum/Daviot scouts troop entered a competition to see which troop is the best in Gordon area.

There were different scout troops from Gordon area. If you win the competition you go and compete with other troops that are not in the Gordon area.

I really enjoyed the camp and I think all the other scouts did as well. I learned a lot at the camp like songs, knots, pitching a tent upside-down, making a natural compass and lots lots more.

I thought our patrol did very good and I thought we needed to work on some things, like listening to the patrol leader and the assistant patrol leader. We also need to brush up on our knots, washing up, pitching tents, tidying up after yourself and some of them just need to find something to do if they have not been told to do anything.

I really enjoyed some of the challenges like some of the knot ones, the camp gadget, the camp fires and all the games, especially the wide games.

I really like getting the fire going and cutting up all the wood. I also like cooking at supper time but the only thing is if you are cooking on the fire all the smoke goes in your eyes and it is quite stingy.

I didn't like it when the patrol leader was not telling everyone what to do so some people just went and did what they wanted to do. Apart from that it was really good.

The food was really good especially the fruit salad because at tea we get marked on hygene and how it is presented. When the leader came round and looked to see if we were all working and to tell us when tea had to be served she didn't think much about it, so I got out some more fruit and cut it up into shapes and grated some of the skin of a lemon and an orange and made it look more presentable.

At the end of the camp I thought we did pretty good and we tried our best.

And a short additional report from Sam:

One of the things I enjoyed about the area flag camp was the wide range of exciting challenges that tested our skills to the limit. Some of these challenges included pitching a tent upside down, designing a miniature model of an ideal campsite, knot tying contests, building and lashing a frame, designing and building a camp gadget and various other little challenges.

I think my group was reasonably co-operative which is important but yet we did not win the area flag. But we all had fun and that's what matters.

Well done to Benn & Sam for writing these reports and well done to all the lads for taking part.
