Abseiling Camp 2006

14 Scouts ventured forth on a quick weekend trip up to Oakwood Quarry near Elgin to take part in an Abseiling Camp. Abseiling (which derives from the German word "abseilen" meaning "to rope down") involves descending down a steep slope or cliff using a stationary rope i.e. one which does not move down the cliff with you, nor is it actually permanently fixed to you.

The height of the pitch was officially measured at... 38 feet 6 inches!

The Leaders would like to congratulate ALL the 14 Scouts who attended and completed the abseiling course, most of you three times, many twice. Even one or two that did not want to make the attempt eventually plucked up enough courage to do it - WELL DONE!

We would also like to say another WELL DONE for the Scouts excellent behaviour at the camp.
