Now the Scouts Spring/Summer 2010 season has got under way, here are some dates of some of the important camps and events...

In addition to the normal Friday night activities here are the dates for our camps and other special events:

May 15th - 16th: Lightweight Camp

Numbers for the lightweight camp are strictly limited to either 6 or 8 (depending on how many hike tents we can get) so get your name down quickly if you want to go. However, you need to be pretty fit to take part as there will be a lot of hill walking involved. Last year we “bagged” a Munroe! This is a one-night camp.

June 4th - 6th: Core Hill Camp / Mackies Farm Day (right-click here to download Permission Form)

I am particularly keen that we get a good turnout for the Core Hill camp in June. On this weekend, Mackies (the Ice Cream people) are having a Farm Open Day and they are expecting to get several thousand visitors to this event. They have asked if the Scouts could help out with various services like marshalling the car park, maybe a bit of programme selling, guiding etc. Mackies have been very kind and generous towards our Scout Group currently  and in the past and I would like to think we can do our bit to repay some of that by helping them out during this weekend. At the same time we’ll have a good camp too up by the wind turbines like we did two or three years ago.

July 2nd - 3rd: Prehistoric Camp

The “Prehistoric” camp is on the very last day of the term (Scouts and school!). This will be something rather different than what we would normally do. It will involve only one night away and your parents may have to transport you to and from the location, depending on the numbers we get signing up.

July 22nd - 26th:Summer Camp Lite

Summer Camp “Lite” will be a long weekend (5 days / 4 nights; Thursday – Monday) at Templar’s Park, Aberdeen which will include a couple of “days out”. I’ll send on more details as I get them (including the cost) but some indication of numbers who are interested would be very useful at this stage.

An e-mail has already gone out asking for your intentions to come on these camps or not. If you have not seen it, please just send Mike an e-mail outlining your preferences.
