Daviot Oldmeldrum Group is trying to cut down on wasteful use of paper by disseminating all information, news and forms electronically by e-mail and via this website. By the end of 2010 we hope to be completely paper-free (except where formal written & signed paperwork is required).
There are many reasons to "go E-mad" and phase out paper notes and forms going home to parents:1 - the time spent by leaders writing, printing and collating the paperwork
2 - the environmental impact of using less paper
3 - the tendency for young people to lose the paperwork or forget to give it to parents
4 - the tendency for parents to lose the paperwork!
5 - the leaders' comfort in the knowledge that, for all its shortcomings, e-mails are more likely to be reliably received by the parents than notes handed out at meetings
By keeping all our information sent either by e-mail or maintained on the website, parents and young people can access the most up-to-date information 24 hours a day. Consequently it is important that parents let us have a current e-mail address on the annual Contact / Medical form each year and that everyone keeps checking the updated news on this website frequently.
