Explorer activities take place both in and (mostly if we can help it!) out of doors at our campground at Daviot and occasionally elsewhere. As Explorers is run at District level, these activities will often be in conjunction with other Explorer Units from the District. |

There is currently no waiting list to join the Explorer Unit. Please contact Mike Scott (01467 671699) if you are interested. |

Explorers form the fourth section of the Scout movement and boys & girls can join Scouts from the age of 14/15. They then progress ultimately on to Scout Network at 18. The new organisational system for the Scout Association is designed to follow the children and young people right through from Beavers, through Cubs & Scouts all the way up to Explorers in a more "seamless" manner. Please go to the official Scout Association's website for more information. The Explorers are lucky in that we have access to a hall at Daviot within 9 acres of natural woodland owned by the local Scout District. Therefore our emphasis tends to be on camping and outdoor skills as we are able to hold many weekend camps at our own site, as well as weekend and longer summer camps elsewhere. Some of our Leaders are also qualified instructors in such activities as kayaking, abseiling and climbing, and have many years experience running such activities within the Scout Movement. |
